Migration Guide
Changing systems shouldn’t mean starting again.
Whether you start with paper, spreadsheets, an old or basic garage management system, changing how your workshop runs is a major commercial event. Need help getting started? We can help set up TorqueOS around your workshop. Already using another garage system? We’ll help you understand what data can be brought across and make the move to TorqueOS as straightforward as possible.
Choose the TorqueOS that fits your workshop. Add what you need. Upgrade when you grow, without re-migrating your TorqueOS data.
The TorqueOS Ecosystem keeps TorqueOS as the operating system for your workshop, with reusable provider wiring for the services you choose. Confirm provider access, setup and commercial terms as part of planning a system change around the records and services you need each day.
A successful switch is structured, deliberate and realistic about data.
Need help getting started? We can help set up TorqueOS around your workshop, from booking to invoicing, so your team can get running with minimum disruption. Assisted setup is separate from data migration.
Already using another garage system? We’ll help you understand what data can be brought across and make the move to TorqueOS as straightforward as possible. We assess available CSV, Excel or other usable records before agreeing what can be moved.
Where assisted data migration is needed, exported data is cleaned and organised where possible, then key details such as vehicle registration numbers are checked where the source data allows.
If you need assistance, we can configure your parts margins, labour rates, default job templates and user roles. We can also agree provider connection setup where credentials, approved API access and commercial terms are in place.
With assisted setup where needed, technicians learn how to view job cards and record time; front-of-house practise taking bookings, ordering parts and generating invoices so the workshop is ready to run.
We agree a clear changeover date in the diary. Existing jobs stay in your old system until complete. New arrivals are recorded in TorqueOS, so the team may need to check both systems for a short time.
It is a mistake to expect new software to act as a perfect historical vault for complex past invoices. Where your current system permits it, retain an available report or PDF archive for useful historical records.
Bring a sample customer and vehicle export, a list of open bookings and jobs, and the services your workshop depends on. Ask what can be imported, what should remain in an archive and how the team will handle work in progress. Built accounting connectors, vehicle-data support and payment infrastructure sit alongside integration-ready technical-data, tyre and parts wiring. Provider activation and package scope are confirmed separately. Assisted setup and data migration are separate services and are scoped to the source system.
Be wary of promises that "everything" will migrate perfectly. Historical job cards, complex invoice layouts, and highly specific service histories rarely map cleanly between different database structures. Assisted setup and data migration services are available; costs depend on the existing system and amount of data transferred.
Jobs currently on the ramp, vehicles waiting for parts, and customer approvals mid-flight cannot simply be paused. Bookings before the cut-over date are invoiced in the old system. Bookings after the cut-over go into TorqueOS.
Straight answers
Common questions about moving from one garage management system to another.
The difficulty depends on your current system, live diary, work in progress and the data you can export. TorqueOS assesses the available records, agrees a controlled cut-over and helps the team prepare before new work moves into the operating system.
No provider should promise that every field will always move perfectly. Migration scope depends on the data and export access available from the incumbent system. TorqueOS assesses, cleans, maps and validates what can be moved, while an archive can keep other historical information useful.
Yes. TorqueOS is designed for established independent workshops as well as businesses setting up from scratch. The switching plan accounts for existing customers, vehicles, diary commitments, open jobs, staff setup and the historical information the workshop still needs.
Your workshop stays in charge of its buying choices. TorqueOS has built connectors and reusable integration-ready wiring, but each chosen provider needs its access, setup and commercial terms confirmed before activation. A software changeover should separately account for the records and exports available from the system you use now.
